ESG Support Strong Among Investors, Surveys Show

A new survey by BNP Paribas found that institutional investors around the world are increasingly committed to ESG investing.
The survey, which polled 420 asset owners, managers, hedge funds, and private equity firms, found that 41% of respondents are prioritising net zero emissions and 54% expect to invest in impact investing strategies in the next two years.
The survey also found that limited data quality is the biggest barrier to ESG investing, with 71% of respondents calling it a significant barrier. However, the survey also found that institutional investors are increasingly integrating ESG expertise and data into their investment decisions.
A separate survey by Barclays found similar results, with 80% of respondents saying that they are committed to sustainable investing. The Barclays survey also found that climate change is the top ESG issue for investors, followed by human rights and biodiversity.
These surveys suggest that ESG investing is becoming increasingly mainstream among institutional investors. As investors become more aware of the risks and opportunities associated with ESG factors, they are increasingly incorporating these factors into their investment decisions.
Here are some of the key takeaways from the surveys:
Institutional investors are increasingly committed to ESG investing.
Net zero emissions and impact investing are becoming more important to investors.
Limited data quality is the biggest barrier to ESG investing.
Investors are increasingly integrating ESG expertise and data into their investment decisions.
Climate change is the top ESG issue for investors.
These findings suggest that ESG investing is here to stay. As investors become more aware of the risks and opportunities associated with ESG factors, they are likely to continue to incorporate these factors into their investment decisions.
