CIRFOOD Gets EcoVadis Platinum Certificate
The Italian catering company, CIRFOOD, has received the highly regarded EcoVadis Platinum certification, which recognises its dedication to sustainability across multiple areas. The rigorous certification process was supported by consulting services provided by Nexio Projects.
CIRFOOD has achieved the highest rating from EcoVadis, placing the company in the top 1% of the most sustainable companies worldwide.
The company's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint involved implementing a range of sustainable sourcing initiatives, deploying advanced tools to combat food waste, and incorporating less meat in its recipes.
EcoVadis is a global rating agency that assesses and recognises companies for their sustainable practices. The evaluation criteria include non-financial aspects such as ethical conduct, labour rights, sustainable procurement, and environmental impact.
CIRFOOD partnered with Nexio Projects, a sustainability consulting firm that specialises in helping companies achieve their ESG objectives. With Nexio Projects' assistance, CIRFOOD successfully attained the EcoVadis Platinum certification. Since its establishment in 2017, the Rotterdam-based consultancy has helped many clients in more than 20 countries achieve their sustainability goals while also benefiting their businesses.
According to Nexio Projects CEO Marc Roodhuyzen de Vries, "Our initial step was to assess CIRFOOD's position regarding corporate social responsibility. We examined not only the end product or service but also identified areas where CIRFOOD could make the most significant impact. We also focused on environmental factors, including evaluating the current fleet, among other aspects."
CIRFOOD, which operates in Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, has implemented several initiatives to establish a sustainable procurement strategy. The company prioritises food that is locally sourced, organically produced, sustainably produced, and sold at fair prices.
Stefano Teatini, the Head of International Procurement at CIRFOOD, stated that "Our objective was to attain the EcoVadis Gold sustainability rating by 2022 and to receive the Platinum certification by 2025. However, we were able to surpass the Gold level and achieve the Platinum rating despite the odds. We are thrilled to be recognised as a leader in sustainability."
