Bath & Body Works recently released its second annual environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report.

This report outlines the company's progress on its sustainability goals, which they are calling their "three pillars": Engaged People, Thoughtful Products, and Brighter Places.

Sustainability Woven into Operations

In 2023, Bath & Body Works focused on integrating sustainability throughout their business, bringing them closer to achieving their ESG goals.

“The decisions we make and innovations we pursue are driven by our customers’ needs and aspirations,” says Gina Boswell, Bath & Body Works CEO. "We're not just offering products and experiences; we're committed to shaping a future for them that's resilient and responsible.”

2023 Highlights

  • The report highlights several key achievements from last year

  • Sustainable Sourcing: Bath & Body Works developed a tool to identify ingredients for their sustainable sourcing programme.

  • Product Donations: They launched a pilot programme with Good360 to donate over 4,00,000 out-of-stock products, which is now expanding company-wide.

  • Science-Based Targets: The company committed to the Science Based Targets initiative to set measurable emissions reduction goals.

  • Employee Wellness: Bath & Body Works opened an in-house wellness centre and pharmacy offering affordable healthcare services to employees.

  • ESG Roadmaps: Also, they developed roadmaps to guide their future ESG actions and ensure implementation aligns with their commitments.

“In reflecting on this past year, one of the areas of progress I’m incredibly proud of is the finalization of our ESG roadmaps,” says Jeff King, Group Vice President, Head of ESG. “This is a critical step as we continue to work cross-functionally and bridge the gap between our commitments and implementation that will enable us to prioritize ESG actions as our business grows and evolves. I’m inspired by how we continue to do the right things to achieve progress across people, products and places for years to come.”

Looking Ahead

Bath & Body Works also released its first Culture and Inclusion report, which details their efforts to promote inclusivity for employees, business partners, and the community.
