Israel to Establish National Calculation Center to Predict Effects of Climate Change

The Israeli government has authorised the development of a national climate calculation centre to forecast the regional effects of global warming.
According to a statement issued jointly by five ministries and the Israel Water and Sewage Authority on Sunday, the new research centre will be equipped with a supercomputer with extensive research and database capabilities to enable future precise climatic forecasts.
According to the announcement, the centre will be run by the Israeli Meteorological Service under the direction of scientists to assist the government in taking preventative and adaptive actions based on climate risk mapping.
In addition, researchers from Israel and other nations in the region will have access to the centre's infrastructure.
According to reports, the ministries said climate change has far-reaching ramifications for ecosystems, economic sectors such as agriculture, energy, transportation, and even national security.
The Israeli Ministry of the Environment has warned that climate change is anticipated to diminish the region's already restricted freshwater resources and cause sea level rises.
