Inditex and the International Apparel Federation (IAF) signed a landmark agreement to drive sustainable transformation in the global garment industry.
Inditex, the parent company of Zara, and the IAF, a global trade association representing 1,00,000 manufacturers from more than 40 countries, have signed a framework agreement to drive significant transformation in the garment industry.
The agreement aims to promote a more sustainable and ethical industry for people and the planet by boosting circularity, traceability, and worker wellbeing.
The agreement will support the development of projects to improve working conditions, protect the environment, move towards circularity, and promote transparency and traceability in the supply chain.
It will also focus on advancing industrial development in producing countries, transitioning to an industry that turns waste into new raw materials and strives for net zero emissions, and enhancing working conditions.
The agreement is a significant step forward in the effort to make the garment industry more sustainable and ethical. It brings together two of the most influential players in the industry to work together to drive change.
The agreement is also notable for its focus on cross-cutting issues, such as the creation of a common framework to measure and verify the impacts of the textile industry, digital labelling, and the interoperability of information systems.
