The company will operate 100 per cent on renewable energy and scale down maximum waste wherever possible, adopting reuse and recycle strategy to prevent non-degradable waste from moving to landfills.

The facility situated on 400 acres outside Sarnia in southwestern Ontario has blending and warehousing operations.

It will generate over 20 million litres of absolute alcohol and create job opportunities in the region.

According to Diageo, the facility will add an extra boost to the company's existing Canadian manufacturing operation in Amherstburg, Ont., Gimli, Man., Valleyfield.

Diageo has been investing $75 million in developing technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable production capabilities in Canada over the last three years.
