Dimitra, the agricultural tech and sustainability leader, has launched Dimitra ESG, a new service to help ESG in agribusiness.

This is timely as ESG standards are becoming key to being competitive in global markets. Many agribusinesses and cooperatives are not prepared to meet those standards and can suffer reputational damage, financial losses and be excluded from markets that prioritise ESG criteria.

Dimitra ESG is gaining momentum, ABRAFRUTAS (Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives) is already on board, showing its practicality and impact.

The Dimitra ESG process is divided into two main steps. The first one is ESG maturity mapping for companies and cooperatives. This step assesses the ESG knowledge and practices of the companies and cooperatives through a specific survey.

The second step uses artificial intelligence (AI) for assessments and blockchain for data integrity. Based on the results, Dimitra ESG provides consulting to create and implement ESG policies and programmes.

Using Web3 technologies, Dimitra ESG allows to use DMTR ERC-20 tokens—Dimitra’s utility token—for carbon offsetting, social investments and real-world assets (RWAs). After assessing each organisation’s ESG readiness, DMTR tokens can be used to buy carbon credits, invest in social initiatives supporting small farmers and buy forest assets.

Brazil is famous for its fruit production and is the leading exporter of fruits like mangoes, melons, papayas, limes and grapes. These fruits are highly valued worldwide for its quality and food safety standards.

The fruit export is crucial to Brazil’s economy, generates many jobs and supports local communities. The partnership with ABRAFRUTAS, which represents about 80% of Brazil’s fresh fruit exports, shows the relevance of Dimitra ESG. In 2023 Brazil’s fruit exports reached $1.2 billion, the sector is growing and has a lot of potential.

"We are thrilled to launch Dimitra ESG in collaboration with ABRAFRUTAS,” said Jessé Rovira, Brazil sales director for Dimitra Incorporated. "Our mission is to empower agribusiness companies to embrace sustainability, enhance their ESG practices and thrive in a market that increasingly values responsible and sustainable operations.”

“Partnering with Dimitra aligns perfectly with our commitment to promoting sustainability within the fruit export sector,” stated ABRAFRUTAS CEO Eduardo Brandão. "This initiative will provide our members with the tools and guidance they need to meet global ESG standards and continue to excel in international markets.”

Dimitra ESG helps companies become ESG compliant and uses blockchain to improve individual practices and the global agricultural industry. Dimitra ESG is a step towards ESG for all, for long term growth and a more sustainable future.
