LYCRA Company to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 50% (Scope 1 & 2) and 25% (Scope 3) by 2030.

Focuses on renewable energy, sustainable materials, and supply chain collaboration to reach goals.
The LYCRA Company, a leader in sustainable fibre and technology solutions, has announced that their emission goals are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
These goals are in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C warming limit.
The company plans to halve its direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1 and 2) and cut supply chain emissions (Scope 3) by 25% by 2030. LYCRA is moving to cleaner energy at its production sites, such as using renewable fuels at the Maydown, Northern Ireland facility.
The company is increasing its use of renewable electricity and working with suppliers to create more sustainable materials. For example, it is collaborating with Qore® to develop bio-derived LYCRA® fibre.
Robert Johnston, LYCRA's operations chief, said: "This has been a two-year effort to identify and select the best options for our business and create a road map for carbon reduction. That plan includes changes to our processes, products, and key ingredients, as well as securing buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.”
“We are committed to making positive change in our industry and have set ambitious emission targets because we believe it’s essential for business success, but more importantly, it’s the right thing to do,” said Gary Smith, The LYCRA Company’s CEO. “By making these changes, we can help reduce not only our emissions but those of our customers as well.”
By setting clear targets and taking real actions, LYCRA is leading in sustainable fashion and encouraging others in the industry to do the same.
