Highlights

  • SÜDPACK presents their Pure-Line products at FACHPACK 2024, highlighting their recyclability and efficient use of materials.

  • Check out their recyclable films, coffee packaging alternatives, and floatable PET options.

  • Their EcoTrace LCA tool evaluates the environmental impact of packaging, with some products earning ISO 14040/44 certifications.

SÜDPACK, a leading German manufacturer of high-performance films for packaging, is all set to display its sustainable packaging products at FACHPACK 2024.

At FACHPACK 2024 in Hall 4, Booth 220, they will showcase their sustainable products and services.

SÜDPACK, at the event in Nuremberg, will show its commitment to sustainability. The exhibit is especially for companies looking to go green and more efficient with their packaging.

New from SÜDPACK

As in previous years, SÜDPACK expects high demand for its recyclable single-material films made of PP and PE. These films have a lower carbon footprint and are more versatile than traditional solutions.

One of the innovations is a PP packaging concept for coffee to replace PET/aluminium composites. “Our internal lifecycle assessments show that this reduces the carbon footprint of coffee packaging by more than 30%,” says Valeska Haux, Vice President of Strategic Marketing & Sustainability at SÜDPACK. This solution has reduced density for better material efficiency, and excellent barrier properties due to PP’s water vapor resistance and easy processing.

And the (Multi-)Peel PET floatable solution. Its low density can be separated during recycling from PET trays, resulting in a cleaner recycled material stream.

The Multifol Extreme film is a minimal material. This high-performance flexible film is up to 30% thinner than conventional PA/PE structures. It seals even when exposed to oil or fat and is puncture-resistant for greasy, protein-rich products and frozen foods in MAP and vacuum packs.

For the snack and spice industry, SÜDPACK offers recyclable monomaterials made of PP and PE for stand-up pouches. A sustainable alternative to traditional films. Pouches for liquid or pasty products like fruit purees can be equipped with spouts. In cooperation with SN Maschinenbau and MENSHEN, SÜDPACK offers a complete solution for the production of spouted pouches.

New from SÜDPACK

In 2023, SÜDPACK launched the EcoTrace LCA tool to calculate the environmental impact of packaging solutions. This tool allows to calculate the entire lifecycle of SÜDPACK’s products and to focus on CO2e, fossil resource use and environmental and human toxicity.

For some products, including the Flow Pack PurePP films, SÜDPACK has ISO 14040/44 certification for the lifecycle assessments. The Flow Pack PurePP films are part of the Pure-Line portfolio, which includes flexible composites used in various applications. Made of PP with a small amount of barrier polymer, they have a recyclability of 92%, as confirmed by the cyclos-HTP institute, which tested different recycling scenarios and end-of-life options.
