Highlights

  • SCG Chemicals and Kao Industrial join forces for eco-friendly packaging.

  • Feather hair care product bottles use SCGC GREEN POLYMER made from high-quality recycled plastic resin.

  • 100% recyclable, low carbon footprint and circular economy friendly.

SCG Chemicals (SCGC) and Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd. partner to create sustainable packaging for Kao’s Feather hair care products.

SCGC, the polymer expert, uses its advanced recycling technology to produce high-quality recycled plastic resin, SCGC GREEN POLYMER.

The new packaging is fully recyclable and has a low carbon footprint, aligning with the circular economy to optimise resource use. This collaboration aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote a low-carbon lifestyle while maintaining product quality and consumer convenience.

Yuji Shimizu, President of Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Feather shampoo has been in Thai households for 60 years. As Kao’s first product in Thailand, it has evolved from a powdered sachet to what it is today. Along with our formula improvement, we have been working on our packaging to address environmental concerns. In 2024, we partnered with SCGC to develop eco-friendly bottles for Feather using high-quality PCR HDPE resin, giving used plastic a new life.”

Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud, CEO & President of SCG Chemicals (SCGC) said, “SCGC offers various green polymer solutions for different industries, including packaging and electronics. With Kao, we have developed high-quality recycled plastic resin, SCGC GREEN POLYMER, for Feather shampoo bottles. The packaging is fully recyclable, low carbon footprint and safe for the product.”

The new Feather shampoo bottle is a low-carbon lifestyle commitment. It is fully recyclable without colour and has a label with perforation for easy removal to facilitate recycling. This design minimises plastic waste and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, addressing global warming and climate change issues.
