Key Takeaways

  • Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport (MSP) and water solutions leader Pentair (PNR) team up to reduce plastic waste.

  • Innovative HOPE Hydration HydroStations offer free, filtered water, eliminating single-use plastic bottles.

  • Real-time data tracks environmental impact, promoting sustainable practices for travellers.

Travellers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) can now quench their thirst and reduce their environmental footprint through a new collaboration between Pentair (PNR), a leading water solutions company, and the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).

As the Official Water Sponsor of MSP, Pentair has installed 10 state-of-the-art HOPE Hydration HydroStations. These innovative stations are the first at any airport worldwide, offering passengers free, chilled, and filtered water.

The HydroStations are also equipped with Pentair's Everpure filtration technology, providing a tasty and eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic bottles.

Educating Travellers for a Greener Future

The HydroStations not only dispense water but also educate travellers about the environmental impact of plastic waste. Interactive features raise awareness of water-related issues and encourage passengers to choose reusable water bottles.

Measuring the Positive Impact

MSP's existing network of water bottle refill stations already reduces plastic bottle use significantly. The new HydroStations take this initiative a step further. They use integrated IoT technology to track real-time data on plastic and carbon emission savings from eliminated single-use bottles. This data is displayed on each HydroStation, creating a tangible reminder of the positive environmental impact travellers can make.

“Our goal is to make it easy for passengers and our airport community to choose reusable options over single-use options,” said Brian Ryks, CEO of the MAC. “We’re excited about this strategic partnership because it shines a brighter spotlight on ways to reduce waste and support sustainable practices that go well beyond the airport.”

“Our mission is to encourage people to Refill, not Landfill; we are excited to showcase the HOPE HydroStation at MSP, one of the world's leading sustainable airports, powered by Pentair's advanced Everpure filtration technology. This is a major step for us together towards building a more sustainable future everywhere,” said Jorge Richardson, HOPE Hydration CEO and Founder. “As frequent travelers, we understand the need for great hydration solutions in airports, and we are thrilled to help travelers make a positive environmental impact.”

“Pentair aims to create a better world for people and the planet through smart, sustainable water solutions,” said Adrian Chiu, EVP and President, Pentair Water Solutions. “Our Everpure filtration technology is a leader in the foodservice industry, and we are excited to bring our filtration expertise to MSP in support of their efforts to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable practices by providing travelers with free, filtered water at the HydroStations.”

Travel with a Conscience

By choosing to refill their water bottles at the HydroStations, travellers at MSP can contribute to a greener future. This collaboration sets a powerful example of how innovation and collaboration can create a positive impact on the environment.
