  • These innovative sustainable additives are designed to reduce the overall carbon footprint of tyre production and promote sustainability.

  • LANXESS is advancing tyre technology by focusing on sustainability, efficiency, and performance.

The global speciality chemicals company LANXESS showcased its innovative and sustainable rubber additives at the recently concluded Tire Technology Expo 2025 in Hannover, Germany.

The company has introduced this advanced technology with sustainability in mind. It will help the tyre manufacturer upgrade its production efficiency and performance and reduce environmental impact. Its product portfolio comprises antioxidants, processing agents, release agents, curing bladders, and accelerators designed to support modern tyre manufacturing.

The following are some innovations presented by the company in sustainable tyre manufacturing at the event:

Vulkanox HS Scopeblue

This is a sustainable antioxidant made from more than 55 per cent sustainable raw materials. It is a greener alternative to TMQ, an additive used in tyre production to extend tyre life and prevent degradation. This product is manufactured at LANXESS’s ISCC PLUS-certified plant in Germany.

Aflux SD

LANXESS is set to introduce its new processing agent, Aflux SD, in the second quarter of 2025. It is designed to improve silica dispersion in rubber compounds to improve tyre properties, including wear resistance, rolling resistance, and wet grip. Simply put, tyres made with Aflux SD will be more fuel-efficient and durable.

Other major rollouts include Rhenodiv release agents, Rhenoshape curing bladders, and Rhenocure DR/S, aimed at eliminating cleaning steps, reducing vulcanisation time, and improving fuel efficiency, durability, and overall performance, respectively.
