Diriyah Gate Signs Memorandum of Understanding with OSP for Sustainable Materials

Saudi Arabia continues its path to attaining a nature-friendly environment. To add to the list, the Diriyah Gate Development Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Oil Sustainability Programme to encourage the use of sustainable polymer construction materials.
OSP, which was launched in 2020, is a collaboration between government agencies, academic institutes, and businesses to promote innovative hydrocarbon-based materials and new and sustainable applications for these materials, such as the use of polymer-based materials.
Under the terms of the agreement, the DGDA, founded in 2017 to preserve Diriyah's mediaeval city, will receive the necessary technical and logistical support, allowing it to achieve sustainability and environmental protection in its projects.
The MoU, signed by OSP programme director Mohammad Hitham Al-Tayyar and DGDA CEO Jerry Inzerillo, aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two organisations on hydrocarbon-based materials.
According to the press release, the agreement will entail finding possibilities to improve the construction and operation processes in DGDA projects and formulating plans to assess and implement these changes.
The DGDA is working on designing, restoring, and renovating Diriyah through several large-scale projects, adhering to traditional Najdi architectural principles, which have been followed in the Kingdom's central region for decades.
The signing event was attended by Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman and Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb, who is also the Secretary-General of the DGDA Board of Directors.
