UNEP FI and Building Bridges Announce Partnership to Make Sustainable Finance More Mainstream Globally

UNEP FI and Building Bridges will host two weeks of sustainable finance events in October. 6000+ finance experts will meet from October 3–14 to discuss climate change, impact management, conflict, biodiversity loss, food security, human rights, and economic recovery.

From October 3 to 6, Building Bridges will be held at the Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG) and online. It will show how dynamic approaches can be used to align financial products with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 2022 meeting will start with a high-level summit that looks at finance for nature and climate change, innovation in sovereign debt management, and agriculture and land use.

The Building Bridges Summit will be held October 3-4 and feature internationally renowned experts and thought leaders such as Emmanuel Faber from the International Sustainability Standards Board, Nick Robins from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Margaret Kulhow from WWF International, David Nabarro from Skills, Systems, and Synergies for Sustainable Development, Beatrice Weder di Mauro from the Centre for Economic Policy Research, Peter Bakker from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and many other speakers.

From October 4-6, Building Bridges Week will hold 65 community-led discussions, workshops, roundtables, presentations, and training sessions on topics such as climate change, developing markets, fintech, impact, social investments, transparency, and accountability.

The following week, on 10-14 October, UNEP FI's 17th Global Roundtable (GRT) would be conducted.

This online-only event will bring together decision-makers, experts, and thought leaders to shape methods for integrating sustainability in banking, insurance, and investment.

UNEP FI's Global Roundtable is a key event in the finance industry, allowing guests to engage with peers, demonstrate leadership, and learn from global financial leaders.

This year's Global Roundtable will focus on portfolio alignment, adaptability, impact management, and finance sector-real economy linkage. This year's speakers include former US Vice President Al Gore, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance Mark Carney, Network for Greening the Financial System Chair Ravi Menon, Allianz CEO Oliver Baete, UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen, and Paris Agreement Architect Christiana Figueres.
