North Lanarkshire Council is offering a new grant programme to help small and medium-sized businesses become more environmentally friendly.

The Net Zero Business Challenge Fund supports companies that develop innovative ways to cut their carbon emissions, create sustainable business practices, or use circular manufacturing methods to become carbon neutral.

Grants cover up to 100% of eligible project costs (excluding VAT), with a maximum of £15,000.

The council also offers an Energy Audit Voucher programme. This provides businesses with up to £2,500 to hire a consultant who will assess their energy use in buildings, operations, or manufacturing.

The voucher programme helps businesses find ways to save energy, cut costs, and become more sustainable. Businesses can receive funding from both the Net Zero Business Challenge Fund and the Energy Audit Voucher programme.

Councillor Alex McVey, head of the Enterprise and Fair Work Committee, explains the programme's purpose: "Many companies struggle to reduce emissions because they lack the knowledge, skills, and funding. Our new grant removes these barriers and allows local businesses to take action to cut emissions and become more sustainable."
