Pertamina Launches New Sustainable Finance Strategy

To better integrate sustainability objective into its financing strategy, Pertamina published its first Sustainable Finance Framework.
Pertamina and its subsidiaries can now apply for finance for Green and Transition projects thanks to this framework, which demonstrates the company's dedication to long-term value generation for stakeholders and environmental stewardship.
“This strategic move to establish the Framework aligns with its financial endeavors with broader commitment to create long-term value and sustainability for stakeholders while making positive impact. This also further reaffirms Pertamina’s commitment to realizing its target of 32% emission reduction from Business as Usual (BAU) scenario by 2030 and fully supporting the Indonesia Government's efforts to achieve Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060 or even sooner while ensuring national energy security,” said Director of Finance of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini.
The Framework has received validation from ISS-Corporate, confirming its alignment with Pertamina’s sustainability strategy and adherence to international standards such as the Green Bond Principles and Green Loan Principles. It outlines guidelines for issuing sustainable financing instruments like loans and bonds, focusing on projects across nine key areas including renewable energy, green buildings, and emission reduction.
Pertamina has included strong governance and reporting procedures in the Framework to guarantee openness. This framework shows Pertamina's commitment to Indonesia's sustainable development goals and its leadership in the energy transition.
