The Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI) announced the appointment of Lorenzo Avico as its new deputy CEO.

Avico, a veteran with 25 years in Luxembourg's financial services, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously held positions like head of business development and head of sales at major financial institutions and has also served as a portfolio manager.

At the LSFI, Avico will work alongside CEO Nicoletta Centofanti to manage and shape the organisation's activities. He will focus on putting the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Strategy into action, leveraging the strengths of Luxembourg's financial centre. This includes supporting financial institutions in their sustainability efforts, representing the LSFI in talks with government and industry groups, and leading working groups on sustainable finance topics.

Avico says: "I am honoured to take on the role of deputy CEO at the LSFI. I have closely followed the work of this unique organisation since its foundation, and I am delighted to contribute to its mission. My extensive experience in the Luxembourg financial sector has made me very familiar with the challenges it faces, as well as its potential and unique features.

"Luxembourg hosts key sustainable finance initiatives and has a long track record of expertise in this domain. I am committed to supporting all our stakeholders, helping them overcome existing challenges while ensuring that we continue advancing the sustainable finance journey."

Background on the LSFI

Founded in January 2020, the LSFI is a collaborative effort between the Luxembourg government (including the finance and environment ministries), Luxembourg for Finance (the financial centre development agency), and the High Council for Sustainable Development. Their goal is to promote sustainable finance in Luxembourg. As an independent advisor, the LSFI guides the government on sustainable development issues and represents civil society interests.
