IJM Land Bhd entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd to introduce an enticing Green Home Financing programme.

This programme features competitive financing rates, swift approval processes, and a cashback incentive, all designed to inspire prospective homebuyers to embrace environmentally responsible homeownership.

This initiative will remain accessible until the end of January next year and will encompass all of IJM Land's GreenRE-certified residential developments.

The primary objective of this MOU is to motivate and empower potential homebuyers to make eco-conscious choices by investing in or purchasing green-certified properties developed by IJM Land. Not only do green homes help reduce carbon footprints, but they also alleviate the overall costs associated with homeownership.

In the statement, the CEO of IJM Land, Datuk Wong Tuck Wai, emphasised the company's dedication to eco-friendliness and sustainability. He stressed that these values are not just future aspirations but present-day imperatives for the company.

He added, "As we continue our commitment to infuse sustainable design into all our projects, it is now mandatory for every residential project by IJM Land to achieve green certification. At the core of our sustainability commitment lies the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, a vision shared by our home financing partner, OCBC Bank. This commitment drives us to take concrete actions, driven by a strong sense of purpose, to enrich the lives of our current and future IJM Land property residents."

Wong further explained that this collaboration empowers individuals and families to opt for sustainability by offering favourable financing rates for green properties. He highlighted that through this partnership, OCBC Bank and IJM Land are jointly promoting green homeownership, setting a transformative example that will have a positive impact on the property and financial sectors. As part of the agreement, IJM Land will work closely with OCBC Bank to expand their efforts in promoting sustainable living for GreenRE-certified properties.

Anne Leh, Head of Consumer Financial Services at OCBC Bank (Malaysia), expressed her belief that the MOU provides an opportunity for the bank to cater to individuals seeking a sustainable home financing scheme.

She added, "We believe this collaborative endeavour will play a crucial role in shaping the industry towards a more sustainable future. This MOU complements OCBC Bank's other green home financing offerings, such as our solar panel financing."

The statement also noted that as part of its sustainability efforts, IJM Land recently launched its "Make A Difference" campaign, aimed at promoting sustainability through its "Say Yes to 4R" initiative. This initiative focuses on reducing, repairing, reusing, and recycling across all IJM Land projects and townships and will be in effect until December 31.
