Dentons Advises NEPI Rockcastle on €60 Million Green Financing

Dentons, the world’s largest global law firm, advised NEPI Rockcastle on a €60 million green financing for Ploiesti Shopping City from a syndicate of lenders led by BRD Groupe Société Générale. NEPI Rockcastle is the largest investor and developer of shopping centres in Central and Eastern Europe.

Dentons managed and coordinated the financing transaction from structuring to completion. Partner Simona Marin, Head of the Banking and Finance practice in Bucharest, led the legal team, assisted by Banking and Finance senior associate Stefi Ionescu and associate Alin Serea, Real Estate partner Bogdan Papandopol, senior associate Luiza Onofrei, and associate Isabela Gheorghe in Bucharest, together with Banking and Finance partner Marcel Janssen and associate Iris van Noort in Amsterdam.

The €60 million loan falls into the category of green financing, meeting the criteria of “substantial contribution to mitigating climate risks”. The financed property holds a "BREEAM In-Use" sustainable certification with an “Excellent” qualification and a Class A energy performance certificate.
