Dovetail Electric Aviation is a company that has developed electric aircraft technology. They have recently won a multi-million-dollar grant to further develop and bring their technology to market. This is a significant development in the field of electric aviation as it will help reduce emissions and noise pollution and make flying more sustainable in the long run.

Dovetail Electric Aviation, according to Minister of Industry and Science Ed Husic, is a perfect example of the high-value collaborative and industry-led research initiatives financed by the CRC-P programme.

“Electric aviation has the potential to be a game-changer for regional transport as Australia pushes to meet our emissions targets,” Minister Husic said.

“This is a testament to the company’s dedication to driving innovation in the electric aviation industry and demonstrates the Australian government’s commitment to this burgeoning aviation sector," Dovetails Chief Executive Officer David Doral said.

The startup has received funding from the Industry and Science Department's Co-operative Research Centre Project Grant programme. The grant will be used to continue the development of electric aircraft to reduce emissions and improve the sustainability of the regional aviation industry.

The grant is a collaboration between Dovetail Electric Aviation, UNSW, CSIRO, Sydney Seaplanes, and Memko and will be used to develop, flight test, and certify the conversion of a turboprop plane to electric propulsion for use in regional commuter services.

Rachael Barritt, Business Operations Executive, Asia Pacific at Dovetail Electric Aviation, said: “Working with both research and industry on this electric aviation project is an incredible opportunity for Dovetail Electric Aviation. Being at the forefront of this transformative technology in Australia is a privilege. We are thrilled to be a part of this historic moment for the Australian aviation industry.”
