  • Globally, business leaders plan on increasing spending on sustainable workplaces.

  • Environmental responsibility has become more like a linchpin for organisations to attract young talent.

A new study conducted by property firm Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) finds that 71% of Millennials and Gen Z from Thailand are very particular about environmental responsibility and sustainability in workplaces.

The study titled "Future of Work 2024" says that green, worker-friendly workplaces are top priorities for Thai businesses, and 65% of global organisations are firming up actions to invest more in eco-friendly workplaces by 2030.

Around 2,300 business leaders worldwide participated in the survey, showing an increasing trend towards offices that integrate technology, adaptability, and environmental responsibility.

In Thailand, companies are transforming into what the study refers to as 'destination workplaces,' combining sustainable technology and other environmental features to attract young talent.

Michael Glancy, managing director for Thailand and Indonesia at JLL, said: "Modern office buildings in Thailand reflect a significant change in workplace thinking. Businesses now have the opportunity to align office strategies with employee expectations and sustainability goals."

Thailand is aligning with global trends in environmental responsibility and sustainability in workplaces. Since there is a huge demand for such offices among youngsters, the coming generations are also expected to place greater importance on sustainability, making it an absolute necessity—not a trend but timeless.

Anawin Chiamprasert, JLL Thailand’s Head of Research, said: "Office design is becoming a key tool for Thai businesses to attract talent and demonstrate their values."
