UBS Asset Management has appointed Narina Mnatsakanian as head of impact investing, a newly created role.

Mnatsakanian will be in charge of growing UBS AM's impact investing, research, and impact measurement services as part of her job at UBS AM.

Mnatsakanian will be based in Amsterdam and will join the firm’s sustainable investing leadership team. The team is led by Lucy Thomas, who was appointed head of sustainability at UBS Asset Management in December 2021.

The appointment also strengthens UBS’ strategy to advance as an impact investment manager.

Mnatsakanian comes from Van Lanschot Kempen, where she was the executive director of sustainable and impact investment.

Mnatsakanian ran the Global Impact Pool fund for the firm's subsidiary, Kempen Capital Management, for five years.

She also worked as the head of sustainable and impact investment, where she was responsible for setting and implementing sustainable investment policies.

Mnatsakanian gained experience in responsible investing in her role as head of networks of global outreach and emerging markets at Principles for Responsible Investment.

During this role, she developed the organisation’s Global Investor Signatory Recruitment and Local Networks strategy.

She was also involved in developing asset class-specific workstreams for ESG integration, including fixed income and private equity.

Throughout her 19-year career, Mnatsakanian has held numerous positions at several other asset management firms, including EY, KPMG, Sarona Asset Management and MN, which is a Dutch pension fund asset manager with €110 billion assets under management.
