For the second time, the Semperit Group has received the highest platinum award in the EcoVadis rating for sustainability performance.

This puts Semperit in the top one per cent worldwide of more than 100,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis. Overall Semperit achieved 78 out of 100 possible points (2022: 76 points).

“The platinum award and the repeated improvement of our rating are an important confirmation for the Semperit Group and all our sites, which contribute to a more sustainable economy with their ESG initiatives. However, we also see it as an incentive to identify further opportunities and potential, for example, in the areas of recycling, inclusion or sustainability in the supply chain, and to convert them into added value for our company,” says Semperit CEO Karl Haider.

EcoVadis is considered the world’s largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies. The assessment covers the four important topics of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement based on 21 indicators. Semperit clearly exceeds the industry average in all of these categories, with significant improvements achieved in ethics and sustainable procurement compared to 2022.

Supply chain responsibility as a strategic opportunity

In the area of sustainable procurement, Semperit recently participated in a study on supply chain responsibility conducted by the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economic Affairs, the study analysed twelve Austrian companies that see supply chain responsibility not only as an additional cost factor but also as a strategic opportunity.

The results of the study were presented at the end of September 2023. https://www.wu.ac.at/en/sustainability/news-details/detail/wu-studie-zu-lieferkettengesetz/
