Octopus Energy Opens Green Share Investments from £25

The platform is free to join and allows people to directly own green energy projects.
It encourages more people to invest in renewable energy and supports the UK's transition to a net-zero economy.
UK's leading energy supplier, Octopus Energy, has introduced a new platform called "The Collective", where people can buy shares of green energy projects starting from £25.
With the rollout of the new platform, the company is giving more people in the UK a chance to buy their own slice of green energy projects, like wind turbines or solar farms, with a minimum investment of £25.
People do not have to pay fees to participate or join, and any returns from these projects will go directly to the investor, which is an opportunity to get involved in a green energy project at a low cost.
This platform will be regulated by the UK's financial watchdog, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and is a first of its kind in the country. The company started this initiative following a growing interest among the Brits to invest in clean energy, with around 1 in 3 people in the nation willing to invest in renewable energy.

To start with, two wind turbines located in Yorkshire and Wales are being readied to receive investments. These turbines are part of the company's “Fan Club” scheme, where customers in the vicinity will receive power at discounted rates when it is windy. With an investment term of three years, people can earn an annual return of up to 6%.
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Collective, said: “Moving to renewable energy represents one of the biggest investment opportunities of our generation – and people can play a powerful role in driving it. We know our customers and lots of people want to do more than use green energy, they want to own a piece of it and turbocharge the shift to a cheaper energy system.
“We’re at the start of a people-powered renewables revolution – and ‘the Collective’ platform is bringing green energy ownership to the many, not the few. It’s time for more people to have the chance to take a stake in their clean energy future.”
People can track their earnings and monitor how much clean energy the project is generating.
