Moorhouse Consulting Joins B Corp Movement

After passing a rigorous evaluation process, Moorhouse Consulting has become the latest consulting firm to join the B Corp movement. Certification as a B Corp sees the firm take its place among a select group of companies, looking to prioritise purpose alongside profit.
Moorhouse Consulting Managing Partner Richard Brackstone commented, “At Moorhouse, we care about making positive and sustainable change in our immediate and wider world. B Corp certification is a rigorous process, and achieving it reflects our ongoing work to ‘walk the walk’, integrating sustainability into who we are and how we engage with our people and clients, from ethical governance practices to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.”
Established in 2004, Moorhouse is a transformation consultancy that works to deliver complex transformational projects. Since its purchase by Expleo Group (formerly Software Quality Systems) in 2018, the firm has been looking to ramp up its operations in the UK with several senior hires. However, the firm’s B Corp status also shows that it values the health of society and the planet alongside its potential for expansion.
The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’s operations and covers five key impact areas: governance; workers, community, environment, and customers. The certification process requires applicants to reach a threshold score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. While the median score for businesses completing the B impact assessment is 50.9, Moorhouse scored 94.2.
To complete the certification successfully, Moorhouse legally embedded its commitment to a purpose beyond profit in its company articles of association. Meanwhile, it has continued to work hard to support positive causes via its work assisting energy and utilities suppliers in reinforcing their controls to protect vulnerable customers around pre-payment meters.
The company also works with charity partners to create real-world change – in 2023 alone, it has delivered pro-bono work with charity partner Power2, the refugee charity Reset UK, and Citizens Advice on supporting people through the cost-of-living crisis.
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, said, “We are delighted to welcome Moorhouse to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies committed to changing how the business operates and believes business can really be a force for good. We know that Moorhouse is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
