Low Carbon Appoints Ed Colligan as Head of Americas and Member of the Board of Directors

Low Carbon, an investment manager, has announced the appointment of Ed Colligan, an experienced impact investor and technology executive, as Head of Americas. He has also been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors.

Colligan, a California-based entrepreneur, brings expertise and know-how to Low Carbon at a significant moment for the company. He will facilitate business growth in North, Central and South America with the ambition of creating 20GW of operational renewable energy capacity by 2030.

He started his career in Silicon Valley during the personal technology revolution and spent over two decades building companies from the grassroots. While serving as Vice President of Marketing at Palm Computing, Colligan developed and launched the PalmPilot, a handheld computer.

He also worked behind the launch of the Handspring Treo during his tenure as the president of Handspring, the handset widely known as the world's first smartphone. He helped facilitate the transaction that reunited the Palm and Handspring organisations into one company.

Colligan recently invested in climate fine-tech, micro-mobility, digital entertainment and neuroscience to speed up their business and attract potential investors.

He joins Low Carbon when it plans to diversify its business into several markets worldwide, including the Americas. While markets are going through abrupt changes, his exceptional track record of adapting to those changes will be valuable to Law Carbon to help its partners and markets navigate the global transition to renewable energy.

Mr Colligan, following his appointment, said: "Climate change is the single biggest issue facing our planet. I want to invest my time and energy in the critical transition to a cleaner, greener future. For that reason, I am honoured to be joining Low Carbon at such an exciting time for the company, as there is enormous potential to make a lasting positive impact in the renewable energy space. I look forward to helping Low Carbon scale up its operations as we accelerate the transition to net-zero.”

Roy Bedlow, Chief Executive at Low Carbon, commented: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Ed’s stature to Low Carbon. His track record of helping innovative businesses scale up their operations speaks for itself and reflects Low Carbon’s commitment to global expansion. Ed has joined Low Carbon at a pivotal and formative moment for the business, and with his expertise, we are confident we will achieve our goals of net-zero and 20GW of operational renewable energy.”
