Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost airline in Kuwait, has proudly unveiled its inaugural sustainability report titled "Flying Green – a Step towards Sustainable Aviation."

This comprehensive report, available online, showcases Jazeera's commitment to key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. Aligned with the guidelines set by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the report provides transparent disclosures relevant to shareholders, customers, employees, and the communities where the airline operates.

Rohit Ramachandran, the CEO of Jazeera Airways, expressed his deep sense of pride in presenting the airline's first sustainability report. With a workforce of over 1,100 employees who facilitate the transportation of more than 3.6 million passengers annually across the Middle East, Central & South Asia, Africa, and Europe, Jazeera Airways recognises its ethical, social, and environmental responsibilities as an organisation.

Since its establishment in 2005, Jazeera Airways has achieved several significant milestones and currently serves 66 destinations. Ramachandran further emphasised that while gaining the trust of stakeholders throughout the years, the airline remains committed to being highly responsible toward its people and the planet. Through the release of this transparent report on its ESG performance, Jazeera Airways aims to provide a clear roadmap of its current position and future sustainability strategy.

Key Report Highlights:

  • Fuel Efficiency and Emissions Reduction: It is dedicated to operating fuel-efficient aircraft powered by low carbon fuel, with a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The airline currently operates 19 aircraft, including A320neos that reduce CO2 emissions by 50%, engine noise by 50% and increase fuel efficiency by 18%.

  • Climate Compensation Initiative: Jazeera Airways stands out as the first Kuwaiti airline and the region's inaugural Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) to implement the CHOOOSE™ climate compensation initiative. This programme enables passengers to offset their carbon impact and contribute to environmental sustainability.

  • In-House Maintenance Operations: With the necessary approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Jazeera Airways conducts line and light maintenance in-house. This strategic approach enhances efficiency, speed, and reliability, ensuring optimal operational performance.

  • Technological Advancements: Jazeera Airways has partnered with NAVBLUE to utilise the Mission+ applications, an integrated platform designed to streamline processes and facilitate paperless operations in the cockpit. This collaboration aims to enhance the overall flying experience while promoting eco-friendly practices.

  • Governance and Workplace Culture: It boasts a robust governance structure and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to values and ethical business practices. The airline has earned the certification of being a Great Place to Work®, highlighting its dedication to creating a remarkable employee experience and fostering high levels of engagement.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: In line with its diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, Jazeera Airways has pledged its support to the IATA 25by2025 initiative. This commitment aims to increase the representation of women employees to 25% in underrepresented categories of the workforce.

  • Community Engagement: It actively contributes to various community-focused initiatives through financial donations, the provision of supplies, and in-kind assistance. These efforts demonstrate the airline's commitment to making a positive impact beyond its core operations.

As Jazeera Airways continues its steady growth, the airline remains steadfast in its mission to provide accessible and affordable travel while upholding its core values and ESG priorities. With a resolute dedication to sustainable practices, Jazeera Airways will continue taking progressive steps towards a greener future.
