Eutelsat Group, a leading provider of satellite communications services, has achieved a platinum rating in the Space Sustainability Rating (SSR) for its first-generation constellation of over 600 satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

This recognition highlights Eutelsat's commitment to using space responsibly.

The SSR, developed by a global team of experts, aims to minimise space debris, prevent satellite collisions, and promote safe and sustainable space operations. The rating system considers six key areas, including a spacecraft's impact on operational risks, collision avoidance capabilities, data sharing practices, and adherence to design and operation standards.

Eutelsat's impressive score of over 80% reflects its dedication to designing and operating its constellation with sustainability in mind.

"With our increased presence in both LEO and geostationary orbit (GEO), we remain committed to the sustainable and responsible use of space” said Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat Group. “We are honoured to receive SSR’s recognition and congratulations to the entire team for their hard work and dedication to sustainable and safe operations."
