DuPont announced that it received the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) category's Best Partner award from Samsung Electronics.

This award, bestowed at Samsung’s Material-day (M-day) event, recognises DuPont’s contributions to fostering a sustainable supply chain through collaborative efforts in developing more eco-friendly semiconductor materials.

Hosted annually by Samsung Electronics' Materials Technology Group, M-day brings together semiconductor material partners to celebrate outstanding accomplishments from the previous year.

The event, held at Samsung’s training centre in Yongin-si, South Korea, not only features recognition but also includes educational sessions on the group’s quality management processes and technology priorities to encourage collaboration.

Sam-Jong Choi, Material Technology Team Leader, DS Division, Samsung Electronics, said, “DuPont has made substantial contributions to the development of material technology for semiconductor fabrication. As the significance of ESG in the materials and technologies sector continues to rise, we eagerly anticipate further collaboration between our two companies to drive sustainable growth.”

DuPont collaborates closely with customers to meet the evolving needs of next-generation technology and provides high-performance semiconductor fabrication materials and technical support. With a growing emphasis on sustainability, DuPont’s customers seek solutions to support their environmental goals, such as reducing energy consumption and emissions, enhancing material and process circularity, and practising responsible procurement.

Hyun-Joo Park, Global Sustainability Leader, DuPont Semiconductor Technologies, said, “As a global leader in semiconductor fabrication and packaging materials, we constantly work side-by-side with our customers to better understand their ESG ambitions. We tirelessly provide sustainable solutions using materials science to drive positive climate action. Receiving this award reflects our deep commitment to collaborating with major global partners like Samsung Electronics to foster innovations for a better world."

Both DuPont and Samsung Electronics play critical roles as founding members of the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC), a comprehensive global effort to address the semiconductor industry’s response to climate change challenges. Representatives from both companies guide the SCC Governing Council, actively participating in initiatives such as the recent formation of an Energy Collaborative to enhance access to low-carbon energy in the Asia-Pacific region.
