The CHP Group has published 2022 sustainability report, highlighting its main objectives and goals achieved.

The topic of sustainability has been an integral part of the internationally active group of companies owned by the foundation for 70 years. The Sustainability Report 2022, which is now available digitally, provides important insights into the past financial year and clearly summarises the main ecological, economic, and social developments.

The report makes it clear that the CHT Group has defined and anchored sustainability as an integral part of its corporate strategy.

  • The CHT Group consistently aligns its sustainability strategy with all three ESG dimensions

  • The Chief Sustainability Officer is responsible for the issue of sustainability

  • Climate protection occupies a central position worldwide - the corporate carbon footprint (Scope 1-3) 2022 adds up to 475 kt CO2(e)

  • The group of companies is pursuing the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2045

  • At the end of 2021, the CHT Group signed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to comply with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and committed to the 1.5 °C target

  • 77% of sales were achieved with products classified as sustainable

Sustainability as part of the CHT DNA

The topic of sustainability has been anchored in the DNA of the internationally active group of companies owned by the foundation for 70 years. From this, no less aspiration can be derived than to support all customers with the most innovative, sustainable products and solutions and thus to become the leading provider of sustainable chemical products and solutions in all target markets.

Transparent communication

Open and transparent communication with all stakeholders, especially customers and suppliers, is of crucial importance. This is primarily illustrated by the company's now updated and comprehensive sustainability reporting.

The current edition of the annual CHT sustainability report for the period from January to December 2022 is now available in website format. The report is based on the GRI standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Since 2015, the CHT Group has been using comprehensive sustainability reporting to document its progressive, successful transformation into a sustainably managed group of companies that is well prepared for the challenges of the EU Green Deal and the mandatory ESG reporting.

The focus of the report is once again on climate reporting and the company's social responsibility within and along the supply and value chains.

"Climate neutrality" as a central field of action

In the implementation of the sustainability strategy of the CHT Group, the field of action "climate neutrality" plays a central role. The CHT Group has set itself the goal of being climate-neutral both in its own production and in the supply chain by 2045. The path to climate neutrality by 2045 is illustrated within the report as part of the strategic objective.

Comprehensive social responsibility as part of sustainability

In addition to climate protection, social responsibility is also a top priority for the CHT Group. The continuous improvement of health protection and occupational safety has the highest priority for the company.

From CHT's point of view, qualified and committed employees make a significant contribution to the future success of the company. Therefore, the CHT Group promotes the professional and personal development of the workforce to a large extent and invests in future-oriented and targeted training and further education of the workforce.

For the CHT Group, respect for human rights is an indispensable pillar of corporate culture and an essential part of the group-wide Code of Conduct. In 2022, the policy statement on compliance with human rights was drawn up, and compliance processes and measures were introduced to prevent any violations and identify and mitigate human rights-related risks.

To achieve these goals in the three ESG dimensions in the long term and to be able to finance the expenses required for this, constant and profitable sales growth is the most important prerequisite.
