Brand agency Boldspace achieves B Corp certification, highlighting its commitment to high standards, transparency, and accountability across various areas, including employee well-being and sustainability.

B Lab, the non-profit organisation behind the B Corp movement, certifies Boldspace for meeting rigorous social and environmental standards, demonstrating the agency's dedication to goals beyond profit. This recognition coincides with the agency's growth, reaching 50 employees and expanding significantly in 2023.

From its inception, Boldspace has been carbon positive, offsetting all emissions and implementing measures to make a positive impact, such as operating as a paperless business and donating 2% of profits to charity annually. The agency also ensures that environmental and sustainability objectives are integrated into each employee's annual goals, reflecting its commitment to operating as a sustainable business.

To complement the certification, Boldspace introduces a new "B Corp rate card," offering a 15% pricing reduction to all approved B Corp businesses. The agency believes that supporting businesses with proactive approaches to these issues is just as important as assisting charities, which already receive rate card discounts in the advertising, marketing, and PR sector.

Boldspace Co-CEO Mike Robb emphasises the agency's strong belief in an environmentally conscious approach, social responsibility, and effective governance for long-term growth. Starting the agency from scratch has allowed these values to be deeply ingrained in its operations, as evidenced by its achievements to date. The B Corp process has catalysed Boldspace to update or establish new policies and procedures, further aligning with its journey toward doing more and continuously improving.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, warmly welcomes Boldspace to the B Corp community, highlighting the agency's commitment to transforming the way businesses operate and recognising its potential to contribute to driving the conversation forward.

The B Corp certification encompasses all aspects of a business's operations, focusing on five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. The rigorous certification process requires applicants to exceed a benchmark score of 80 and provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices, including energy usage, waste management, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. Boldspace has legally embedded its commitment to a purpose beyond profit in its company articles to complete the certification.

With B Corp certification, Boldspace joins a global community of over 6,000 businesses. In the UK alone, there are more than 1,300 B Corps, representing diverse industries and sizes, including well-known brands like The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop, and Abel & Cole, a pioneer in organic food.
