Amex GBT, the world's leading B2B travel platform, has released its 2022 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, showcasing notable achievements and advancements in sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), social impact, and governance initiatives.

According to CEO Paul Abbott, 2022 marked a pivotal year for Amex GBT. The company went public, defined its purpose, and made bold commitments to bring about change in the industry and leave a positive societal impact.

"At the start of 2022, we committed ourselves to economic, social, and environmental goals, driving progress through travel. We aimed to create equal opportunities for the future of work, prioritise crucial travel needs, and spearhead sustainable aviation solutions," said Abbott.

While acknowledging that there is more work to be done, Abbott expressed pride in the dedication and investments made to realise these objectives, as evidenced in the report. He emphasised the importance of collaboration with colleagues, customers, and industry partners to continue driving progress forward.

Environmental Impact:

Science Based Targets: Amex GBT pursued a formal commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aims to have its target officially validated by the end of 2023.

World Economic Forum: Amex GBT joined the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the first travel management company, becoming part of the First Movers Coalition and signing the WEF Clean Skies for Tomorrow ambition statement to achieve 10% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030.

Carbon Pricing: Amex GBT introduced a pilot programme allowing clients to allocate budgets for investing in sustainability initiatives by implementing internal carbon pricing.

CHOOOSE Partnership: Amex GBT integrated with CHOOOSE to enhance sustainable business travel, providing travellers with insights into their carbon emissions and supporting informed travel decisions.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Through their SAF pilot programme, launched in partnership with Shell Aviation and Accenture via Avelia, Amex GBT made 1 million gallons of SAF available upon its launch in June 2022.

Net Zero Carbon Events: Amex GBT Meeting and Events pledged to achieve the targets of the Paris Climate Accord by signing the Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) commitment.

Green Compass 30x30: Using Green Compass solutions, Amex GBT's Global Business Consulting team assists clients in achieving a 30% emission reduction within their travel programmes by 2030, aligning with their sustainability goals.

Social Impact:

Supporting Refugees: Amex GBT collaborated with Miles4Migrants to assist in relocating Afghan and Ukrainian refugees to safety, mobilising 30 travel counsellors for this humanitarian effort.

CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion: CEO Paul Abbott signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, demonstrating Amex GBT's commitment to fostering workplace diversity.

Tech Role Diversity: Amex GBT and Egencia partnered to promote tech roles for female candidates at the Grace Hopper Celebration, advocating for increased diversity in the field.

Regional Diversity Commitment: The Benelux team of Amex GBT signed the Diversity Charter with the Dutch Social and Economic Council, pledging to raise female representation in senior leadership roles to 33% by the end of 2022 and 40% by the end of 2023.

Innovation Recognition: The Google-Amex GBT travel team's "Accessibility Travel Desk" won the Business Travel Awards Europe Travel Team of the Year accolade.

LGBTQ+ Inclusion: Australian colleagues received the Bronze award at the Australian WorkPlace Equality Index and pursued membership in Pride in Diversity, supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts.

Governance:

Strong Brand Mission: Amex GBT maintains its brand mission by providing reliable support through a robust governance framework that safeguards the company's reputation, employees, customers, and partners.

Employee Training: Amex GBT ensures regular, mandatory employee training programmes covering essential governance areas such as the Code of Conduct, Information Security, Sanctions, Anti-corruption, Antitrust, and Privacy Awareness.

Compliance Recognition: Amex GBT was honoured with Compliance Week's Compliance Programme of the Year award for 2022.

Public Listing: Amex GBT transitioned into a publicly traded company, listing on the New York Stock Exchange on May 31, 2022.
