Kent Introduces Zero-Emission Buses on Fastrack Routes

Kent County Council (KCC) is introducing zero-emission electric buses on the Fastrack network in Kent Thameside. 28 buses by April 2025.
These new buses will reduce carbon emissions by 1,300 tonnes a year, helping KCC offer greener and more reliable travel options.
Charging points for the electric buses will be installed at Gravesend Bus Station and Dartford Acacia Hall by the end of the month.
The buses will have wireless charging, ambient lighting and improved accessibility based on passenger feedback.
This is the start of the transition to a cleaner energy solution, twenty-eight electric buses will make the Dartford and Gravesham route fully electric by April 2025.
Five electric buses will also be added to the new Dover Fastrack network.
Once live this electric fleet will reduce carbon emissions by 1,300 tonnes a year, in line with KCC’s promise to offer residents greener and more reliable travel options.
Charging points for electric vehicles will be installed at Gravesend Bus Station and Dartford Acacia Hall by the end of the month for the electric buses.
This follows KCC’s 15-year deal with Go-Ahead London to run Fastrack services in Dartford and Gravesham, making travel in north Kent more sustainable and connecting communities better.
KCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Neil Baker, said: "I am delighted that we have received our very first electric bus for Kent. This marks a significant milestone and an exciting time for users of our Kent Thameside Fastrack service as we upgrade our fleet to new electric models. The investment is an indication of our commitment to Fastrack and better air quality for Kent’s residents. I am looking forward to seeing them in operation.”
