This course has been developed to provide learners with an understanding of: the circular economy, its principles, and how it differs from the traditional linear economy model; the importance of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover principles; business models aligned with circular economy principles, and their environmental and economic benefits; the existing policy and regulatory frameworks that encourage the adoption of circular economy practices; metrics and indicators used to measure progress towards a circular economy; applying circular economy principles in their professional lives and becoming change agents in their respective organisations.

For centuries, we’ve been stuck in a linear economy, a 'take-make-dispose' system that extracts resources, produces goods and then gets rid of them. This approach may have generated economic growth, but it has also created the scourge of waste, pollution, and depleted resources.

Our environment is struggling with the weight of discarded plastic and electronic waste, and vast landfill sites are a blight on the natural landscape. The circular economy offers a new vision. It's a regenerative system designed to keep products and materials in use, extending their lifespan and minimising waste.

It's all about recycling, reusing, remanufacturing, and reducing. It's a bold shift towards sustainable practices that can create a world where nothing is truly wasted.

This course gives all employees, globally, practitioner-level knowledge of how businesses can reduce waste, reuse materials, and ultimately make a positive impact on the environment while also improving their bottom line.

This course will provide those employees making key decisions about procurement and processes, with the principles of the circular economy, real-world examples of circular business models in action, key policy frameworks and metrics to be aware of, and tools to help foster a circular economy mindset in your organisation.
