  • Nova Tissue says they use 100% sustainable materials in the manufacturing process.

  • The new equipment will provide a fillip to production and reduce plastic packaging.

UK-based sustainable toilet paper and kitchen roll manufacturer Nova Tissue has invested £1 million in new machinery to make their operations more sustainable.

The company manufactures 68 million rolls of toilet and kitchen paper every year and has received an asset finance package from Lloyds Bank to acquire the OM1 Bundler and the Rewinder Line machinery, increase its capacity by 25%, and reduce plastic packaging.

The Rewinder Line, a principal feature of the new machinery, has an Aquabond system that replaces glue with water. This innovation will improve tissue quality and reduce production costs. By using these advanced systems, the company aims to make their operations greener and maintain high-quality standards.

The tissue manufacturer that supplies large retailers, wholesalers, and food banks says sustainability is a core aspect of their business. Their Soft on Nature eco-friendly toilet roll is made entirely from sustainable or recycled materials. This will reduce virgin paper by 150 tonnes every year, which is equivalent to saving 3,850 trees. Also, the company has collaborated with the environmental charity Tree Aid for sustainable sourcing, green manufacturing, and community projects.

Managing director Khurram Iqbal said: "Since my father set up this business nearly 40 years ago, we’ve worked to build a strong reputation for our quality and innovation.

"This investment marks our latest step forward with this, and I’m grateful to Ria and the team at Lloyds for their support.

"Our new machinery hasn’t only already improved our production capacity and quality of our products, but it’s also allowed us to make real progress in our efforts to operate more sustainably."
