  • Many companies are unable to meet their net zero goals due to the limited availability of credible data.

  • EcoVadis has more than 150,000 organisations in its CDN, supporting data collection, reporting, and transparency.

The leading sustainability ratings platform EcoVadis has introduced the Carbon Data Network (CDN) to help businesses with their Scope 3 decarbonisation measures.

Scope 3 emissions come from a company's supply chain, and many companies grapple with collecting Scope 3 emissions data due to unreliable supplier data, which obstructs progress towards Net Zero targets.

To resolve this, EcoVadis introduced CDN. It gives businesses direct access to credible carbon data from suppliers, helping them set a strong base and measure progress in reducing emissions.

Data show that only 16% of larger businesses are on the right track to their net zero goals, which shows the increasing need for better emissions tracking and reporting.

To this end, new regulations, like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, demand companies to report accurate carbon data and call for greater transparency. Oftentimes, businesses have to deal with inconsistent, incomplete data, making these efforts more challenging and cumbersome.

EcoVadis's CDN powered by Carbon Action Manager (CAM) has over 150,000 organisations to make data collection, transparency, and reporting much easier and more effective. Companies can also access tools like Corrective Action Plans, a Carbon Estimator, and the EcoVadis Academy for emissions management.

The sustainability ratings platform is also collaborating with carbon accounting firms to simplify data sharing and upgrade reporting accuracy.

Pierre-François Thaler, cofounder and co-CEO of EcoVadis, said: "Our goal is to empower companies with insights and make it easier for them to access primary supplier data exactly where they conduct their Scope 3 calculations.

"By expanding our ecosystem with partners like Sweep and Normative, we’re helping businesses to move from industry averages to primary emissions data and seamlessly bring it into their reporting and decarbonisation efforts."
