DHL's Green Transport Hub in Victoria Set to Complete by 2025
DHL will introduce an automated sortation system by 2026.
The new facility will be built with sustainability in mind, making the logistics business greener and more environmentally friendly.
DHL Supply Chain Australia (DHL), a logistics company that provides supply chain solutions for businesses, is working on an advanced sustainable transport hub in Derrimut, Victoria, which is expected to be completed by June 2025.
The hub will incorporate warehouses and office areas, covering 16,600m² of space. This will enable the logistics company to handle more shipments efficiently and serve customers across various sectors, including retail, technology, automotive, life sciences, and healthcare.
It will be constructed with sustainability in mind and include features such as a rooftop solar panel system, energy-saving LED lighting, a solar hot water system, and an intelligent building management system to optimise energy consumption.
DHL's CEO, Steve Thompsett, said:
"The new transport hub is a key part of the company’s focus on strengthening its transport service offerings for both existing and new customers. In essence, DHL is constantly seeking ways to perform at its best for customers while ensuring sustainable growth for the future of our employees. We are committed to continued growth in transport, offering the right blend of transport services alongside the 3PL services for which we are renowned.
"Importantly, we are also acting on the targets of our Global Environmental and Energy Policy through our services and can partner with our customers to help them achieve their own sustainability goals. All of these objectives are tied to our ambition of maximising opportunities for our workforce, which serves our customers across every Australian state and territory."
