The British Standards Institute (BSI) has partnered with sustainability software solutions provider Ecometrica to introduce an innovative tool aimed at assisting organisations in effectively managing their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting.

The newly unveiled tool, called 'Connect Climate,' leverages the existing BSI Connect software platform to enable real-time data capture, thereby enhancing ESG reporting and greenhouse gas (GHG) management.

BSI and Ecometrica developed this toolkit to empower businesses in addressing their impact on the climate crisis and preparing for upcoming regulatory reporting obligations, such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CRSD) and the US Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) climate risk reporting guidance.

Designed as a comprehensive data-driven information and workflow platform, Connect Climate caters to organisations of all sizes and at different stages of their ESG reporting journey.

It facilitates the efficient collection of business activity data from various sites and suppliers, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain. Additionally, the tool supports reporting on Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, facilitates the development of carbon reduction plans, and encourages supplier engagement in emissions reduction efforts.

Leveraging BSI's existing Connect system, which already serves over 70,000 global sites, Connect Climate benefits from Ecometrica's global emission factors database and intelligent calculation engine.

Sergio Nogueria, BSI's Group Director of Consulting Services, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Ecometrica, highlighting the company's commitment to supporting organisations in driving progress towards a sustainable future for the benefit of society and the planet.

Ryan Lynch, BSI's Practice Director for Sustainability, emphasised that organisations have the opportunity to address the impacts of climate change and meet the expectations of shareholders, customers, consumers, and regulators.

With Connect Climate, organisations can gather data swiftly and accurately, enabling them to report on their greenhouse gas emissions. This foundational data can further aid BSI's team of climate experts in developing carbon reduction plans and supplier engagement programmes, positioning organisations as leaders in the transition to a clean energy economy.

Vanessa Boudreau-Sannier, CEO of Ecometrica, North America, highlighted the increasing demand from corporations for improved accuracy and transparency in sustainability impact and risk accounting and reporting.

She expressed confidence that Connect Climate, powered by Ecometrica's robust calculation engine and comprehensive emissions factors database and supported by BSI's expert consultants, can significantly assist companies in meeting disclosure requirements while reducing their climate change impacts.
