AWS and SLB announced a partnership to support the energy industry.
The companies to explore low-carbon technologies.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon cloud computing platform, has collaborated with SLB, a global technology company based in Houston, Texas, to support the energy industry in reducing carbon emissions.
Together, the companies will make it easier for the energy industry to access emerging technologies and reduce its carbon footprint. The announcement was made at the SLB Digital Forum 2024, recently held in Monaco.
The focus of the collaboration will be on integrating key software from SLB’s Delfi™ digital platform, specifically software for subsurface analysis (Petrel) and wellbore management (Techlog), to be available on AWS in 2024.
The partnership includes long-term agreements between the two organisations to explore low-carbon technologies, supporting their net zero goals.
They also believe that challenges in the energy industry can be addressed by using digital technologies and refining current energy systems. Both companies are working simultaneously to promote green technologies and reshape energy software solutions.
“There are many dynamic forces at play in our industry that can be addressed through the adoption of digital technologies,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president, Digital and Integration, SLB. “Through this partnership, we will provide AWS cloud customers with our industry-leading software to optimize the energy systems of today and those of the future.”
“AWS’s continued commitment to our energy customers is driving new innovations and efficiencies with the power of the cloud while reducing costs across the industry,” said Howard Gefen, general manager of Energy & Utilities at AWS. “Digital and decarbonization technology companies are essential for this transformation, and we’re happy to expand our partnership with SLB to help organizations scale AI, data and cloud technologies.”
