  • Gujarat in India will be home to the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a planned capacity of 30,000 MW.

  • The portfolio includes solar, wind, and wind-solar hybrid projects.

India's renewable energy giant, Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), has announced that it has set a new benchmark by expanding its renewable energy portfolio to more than 12,000 megawatts (MW).

This achievement makes AGEL the first and only green energy company in India to reach this level. The company's 12,258.1 MW portfolio comprises 8,347.5 MW solar, 1,651 MW wind and 2,259.6 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity.

The Khavda Renewable Energy Plant in Gujarat, India, is a major benefactor to this remarkable turning point. Currently, the plant is under construction, with 2,824.1 MW completed, and once finished, it will become the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a planned capacity of 30,000 MW, larger than any other power plant globally across all energy types.

Now, AGEL can supply electricity to over 6.2 million households, eliminating 22.64 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually—equivalent to the carbon absorbed by about 1 billion trees.

The company targets 50,000 MW by 2030, which backs India's 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
