S&P Global Announces Appointment of Fred Samama Head of Strategic Development for Sustainable 1

Samama will be in charge of conducting engagements with the firm's customers to examine and evaluate their climate and ESG demands in his new job. Samama will also work with colleagues across S&P Global to create and deploy solutions that will assist businesses, investors, and governments in navigating and realising the net-zero and sustainability transition.

This appointment comes in the wake of a milestone year for S&P Global and ESG, which included the launch of S&P Global Sustainable1 in April 2021. Sustainable1 brings together S&P Global's resources and comprehensive product range of data, benchmarking, analytics, evaluations, and indexes to provide customers with a 360-degree picture to assist them to accomplish their sustainability goals. S&P Global announced the acquisition of The Climate Service in January 2022 to expand its leading range of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data and solutions for its customers.

Samama comes to S&P Global from CPR Asset Management (CPR AM), the thematic equities arm of Amundi, Europe's biggest asset manager. He was Chief Responsible Investment Officer at CPR AM. He joined Amundi in 2009 as Head of Responsible Investment and Co-Head of Institutional and Sovereign Clients, among other positions.
