Qlik®, a leader in data integration, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI), partnered with TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) to uncover the state of responsible AI practices across industries.

This research highlights the need for clear ethical guidelines, transparent AI operations, and collaboration to navigate AI integration into businesses. The findings stress the importance of prioritising responsible AI to comply with regulations and build trust in AI-driven innovations.

The ESG research reveals key insights:

  • AI Adoption: Almost all organisations (97%) are using AI, with many (74%) already implementing advanced AI technologies.

  • Investment Gap: While most companies invest in AI (61% allocate significant budgets), many lack a comprehensive strategy for responsible AI (74%).

  • Ethical Challenges: Organisations face hurdles ensuring transparency (86%) and compliance with regulations (99%) in AI systems.

  • Operational Impact: Despite challenges, responsible AI is a top priority for many (74%), but some experience increased costs and delays due to inadequate measures.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: The study highlights the importance of engaging different stakeholders, most notably IT departments, in the process of ethical decision-making related to AI.

Qlik aligns AI with responsible principles by providing powerful data management and analytics tools. They create user-friendly solutions to enhance data governance and address report challenges.

Brendan Grady, General Manager, Analytics Business Unit at Qlik, said, "The ESG Research echoes our stance that the essence of AI adoption lies beyond technology—it's about ensuring a solid data foundation for decision-making and innovation. At Qlik, we empower businesses not just to deploy AI but to integrate it meaningfully, aligning with their strategic objectives. This study underscores the importance of responsible AI integration as a catalyst for sustainable and impactful organizational growth."

Michael Leone, Principal Analyst at ESG, commented, "Our research confirms the growing adoption of AI across industries, but it also highlights a gap in effectively implementing responsible AI practices. As organizations accelerate their AI initiatives, the necessity for a solid foundation that supports ethical guidelines and robust data governance becomes crucial. This research aims to guide enterprises in fostering responsible innovation that aligns with both business objectives and ethical standards."
